Thanks to Rich Maiatico for the article and pictures
Cool temperatures today for the “Toys for Tots” motorcycle ride, hosted by the Oceanside American Legion post. (This is open to all bikers, so for the purists, I understand that it is technically a ride not a “ryde”).
Anyway, kickstands up at 10 AM (nice starting time). We assembled with several other Spyder Ryders and headed east on US-76, to Valley Center. Both Patti and I were glad we had linings in our jackets as we reached the chilly top of the 1,300 foot grade.
Rolled past Fat Ivers BBQ in downtown Valley Center (glad to see it has been rebuilt since the fire) and then down the grade into East Escondido. North on the surface street along I-15 to Gopher Canyon Road and back to Kennedy’s Custom Cycle Shop in Oceanside.
Ended up back where we started. Very nice planning.
Had lunch as part of the ride and then some raffle drawings. Patti won dinner for two with a bottle of wine at a local Vista restaurant. Very nice end of a very nice ride. Thank you, American Legion for hosting this event for the US Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots.
This was a nice chance to mingle with other Spyder Ryders from North County. We somehow always manage to meet such interesting people. And you really can’t tell that through their biker gear. You just need to meet and mingle. Patti and I seem to be pretty good minglers.
